Thailand & Vietnam - Ethnic Minority Woman's Trousers

Considering the petit size of the women, these trousers are quite large or shall I say baggy. Here they are all folded into half in order for me to get them into the pictures, some are longer in length than the others.  I find these trousers most fascinating the first time I saw them, the effort put in the embroideries are just extraordinary. I don't remember seeing anything quite like it before.

Vietnam - Red Dao Thaphin.  This is a favourite piece, minimalist and refined in the choice of colours, so much depth in that rare shade of earthy pink.

Vietnam - Red Dao Thaphin, the bright colour looks more gold than yellow.

Looking for A Blanket ?

Long time no see !

Some favourite pieces - they seem to be mostly from Myanmar!

Myanmar - Chin woman's blanket.

Top piece, Naga from Myanmar

Myanmar - Hemp, a large piece being folded into half.

Southern Laos - a long piece, Kato loin cloth.

No sign of the blanket I set out to find!  But below are a couple pieces of needlework that I still find their execution most inspiring, in both composition and the combination of techniques.

Northern Thailand - 5 pairs of Ahka woman's old leggings.

An old Yao pleated skirt of which pleats have been taken out.  It's long and heavy, incredible amount of hard works have gone into making this skirt.
