Miao Baby Carrier, Yunnan China.

There is supposed to be a long strap on each side of the baby carrier for securing the baby on the mother's back as the straps are being tied round her body.  When the part gets worn, they are replaced with new ones, often just plain cotton with little or no embroidery. However, most baby carriers of this layout are often sold without the straps.
I love the embroideries on baby carriers and children hats.  They are celebrations of happiness, labour of love and works of joy.  Intricately stitched into this one baby carrier are hopes, and beautiful blessings for the safe passage to a new life.
