Sacred Ikat From Heirloom To Trade

The exhibition, held at the Kuala Lumpur Textile Museum, showcased the collection of ikat textiles from the island of Sumba by Marie Tseng during her sojourns in Indonesia.  In conjunction with the exhibition a book, Sacred Ikat From Heirloom To Trade was also launched, written by both Marie herself and Edric Ong, priced at RM50, is now available at the museum gift shop.  The book catalogued in great details - the weaving technique, iconography and function of each piece of textile, bringing to life the intrigue and ancient myths that have been woven into these splendid Sumba ikats.
