Textile Talk and Performance by Shingo Tokihiro - ' Whispering of Water, Wind of Memories ' @ Kuala Lumpur National Textile Museum.

It was a rather surreal experience to see Mr. Tokihiro took to the floor, wearing the costumes that were  displayed on the mannequins during his talk earlier.  His steps were swift and light, his costumes came to life, they danced in the air, floating from one end of the room to the other. The romance that it tells, and the elegance of movements, make the experience of that evening most unforgettable.

The man and his creation - one of the two costumes that were displayed on the mannequin that evening.   As to the outfit that Mr Tokihiro was wearing - a beautiful near ankle length gown with printed floral design on both sides. ' It was inspired by the minority costumes of South-West China '.  I think that is what he told me,  I can't speak Japanese but he speaks some English.

This piece is made up of a combinaton of old and new, natural and synthetic materials, the oldest piece in the garment is about 70 years old.
